Senior Public Relations Executive

About the role

The Senior Public Relations Executive will shape and amplify New Zealand’s reputation as a world‑class travel destination. Working closely with the Public Relations Manager, you will lead strategic global PR initiatives that generate earned media coverage and elevate the Tourism New Zealand brand internationally.

Key responsibilities

• Manage delivery of strategic global PR campaigns and secure earned media coverage.
• Lead high‑profile, large‑scale projects and tentpole moments from briefing to execution.
• Craft compelling, destination‑focused storytelling across earned channels.
• Oversee planning, design and execution of best‑in‑class PR projects and campaigns.
• Produce and distribute supporting PR materials and manage on‑the‑ground production in New Zealand.
• Ensure robust health & safety standards and effective stakeholder management.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in public relations, content, sponsorship or journalism.
• Proven track record delivering large‑scale projects with creative and production agencies.
• Strong understanding of media industry, channels and publishers, including broadcast producers, NZ and international media, partners and KOLs.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and writing skills; calm under pressure with an eye for detail.
• Passion for New Zealand as a destination and willingness to travel domestically frequently.
• Full NZ driver’s licence and the right to live and work in New Zealand.

Required skills

• Experience using AI‑enabled tools such as Microsoft Copilot.
