Senior Process Engineer (Hamilton, NZ)

About the role

The Senior Process Engineer will join D2 Process in Hamilton, New Zealand, reporting to the Group Technical Director. This full‑time, on‑site position leads process engineering activities from feasibility studies through detailed design, commissioning and performance optimisation across food & beverage, industrial, pharmaceutical and wastewater projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review process designs, calculations, equipment specifications and sizing.
• Create and maintain Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Define and implement process control strategies, instrumentation and integration with automation systems.
• Perform technical analysis, support troubleshooting and root‑cause investigations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to ensure safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline; professional registration is a plus.
• Significant experience in process design and engineering for food & beverage, industrial, pharmaceutical or wastewater sectors.
• Proven ability to lead projects or workstreams and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with experience interfacing with clients and stakeholders.
