Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

eShepherd is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of next‑generation virtual fencing technology for agriculture. You will own mechanical design decisions from concept through production, testing, and field feedback, working in a fast‑moving R&D environment backed by Gallagher.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical components, assemblies, and mechanisms for new and existing products.
• Take ownership of designs from concept through to production release.
• Develop practical solutions across plastics, sheet metal, enclosures, and structural components.
• Support prototyping, testing, Design‑for‑Manufacturing (DFM) reviews, and manufacturing readiness.
• Investigate in‑market product issues and lead root‑cause analysis activities.
• Translate customer and field feedback into product improvements.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to optimise performance and reliability.
• Contribute to engineering best practices and mentor less‑experienced engineers.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical or product development engineering.
• Proven track record designing physical products that reach production.
• Hands‑on, problem‑solving mindset with a passion for building real‑world solutions.
• Ability to work closely with cross‑functional teams including electronics, firmware, manufacturing, and supply chain.
