Senior Mechanical Designer – Product Development

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Designer to own a product subsystem from concept through to volume production. You will work in a fast‑moving, well‑funded company that is scaling after a successful test phase. The role combines hands‑on mechanical design with close collaboration across structural, MEP, controls and offshore manufacturing partners.

Key responsibilities

• Own mechanical design of a defined subsystem from concept through to production.
• Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) conversations with manufacturers and incorporate feedback.
• Work cross‑functionally with structural, services, and controls engineers to resolve integration challenges.
• Travel to manufacturing facilities for design reviews, factory acceptance tests and build oversight.
• Contribute to and lead design reviews, challenge assumptions and defend decisions.
• Apply first‑principles thinking to understand why before deciding how.

Required profile

• 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience in product development or capital equipment.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or related discipline.
• Hands‑on sensibility – you have built physical prototypes, not just models.
• Strong DFM mindset – design for the people making the product.
• Comfortable working with ambiguity and making decisions without a complete brief.
• Ability to communicate clearly with manufacturing and design teams.
