Senior iOS Mobile Engineer

About the role

Air New Zealand is seeking a Senior Mobile Engineer to lead the design and delivery of high‑quality iOS applications that power millions of travel journeys worldwide. You will join a high‑performing product team driving the airline’s digital transformation, shaping scalable mobile solutions and influencing the future of digital experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust iOS applications using Swift and SwiftUI at scale.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to turn ideas into intuitive, high‑impact solutions.
• Improve app performance, reliability, and maintainability, delivering measurable speed and stability gains.
• Identify and resolve complex bugs and performance challenges to ensure a consistently high‑quality experience.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, shaping secure, scalable, and future‑ready mobile platforms.
• Champion modern engineering practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and continuous improvement.
• Mentor and support other mobile engineers, fostering a strong engineering culture.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of iOS development experience, preferably in large‑scale or complex environments.
• Deep expertise in Swift and SwiftUI with a focus on clean, maintainable code.
• Experience with backend‑for‑frontend patterns and exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS (advantage).
• Strong understanding of mobile architecture, design patterns, and Apple UI guidelines.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern development practices.
• Proven problem‑solving ability in fast‑paced, evolving environments.
• Experience using AI tooling to enhance development workflows.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership.
