Senior Communications Advisor

About the role

The Salvation Army is seeking a Senior Communications Advisor to lead strategic communications and storytelling across New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga and Samoa. You will act as a trusted advisor, shaping narratives that support the organisation’s mission and values.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute communications strategies and multi‑channel campaigns.
• Create engaging digital, print and media content, including press releases, FAQs and key messaging.
• Identify and pitch media opportunities, managing end‑to‑end communications projects.
• Provide expert advice to internal stakeholders and senior leaders.
• Coach colleagues on best‑practice communications and champion a culturally responsive approach.

Required profile

• Proven experience in strategic communications and content creation.
• Strong writing and editing abilities across multiple platforms.
• Ability to translate complex issues into clear, compelling messages.
• Experience engaging with media and managing reputational risk.
• Confidence working with senior stakeholders and managing multiple priorities.
