About the role
Te Matatini, a kaupapa Māori organisation that showcases kapa haka excellence, is seeking a Senior Communications Advisor. This 12‑month fixed‑term position is based in Wellington and involves national and international travel to support the organisation’s cultural programmes.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute communications plans for programmes, events and festivals.
- Manage media relations, reputation issues and press communications.
- Engage stakeholders and support internal communications across the organisation.
- Create digital content and storytelling for online platforms.
- Provide communications support for national initiatives and high‑profile events.
Required profile
- Proven strategic communications experience with a hands‑on delivery approach.
- Strong writing, editing and storytelling abilities across multiple channels.
- Resilient, adaptable and able to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficient in te reo Māori and understanding of tikanga Māori.
- Comfortable working in a kaupapa Māori environment and appreciating Māori values.
Required skills
- Experience using modern communications and media tools.
