Registered Nurse – Operating Room (OR)

About the role

The Registered Nurse – Operating Room provides comprehensive patient care throughout the pre‑operative, intra‑operative and post‑operative phases. Working closely with surgeons, anesthetists and the peri‑operative team, the RN ensures safe, efficient, and patient‑focused surgical experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients’ physiological and psychosocial status and document histories.
• Develop nursing diagnoses, set patient‑family goals, and create individualized care plans.
• Execute pre‑operative processes, including patient identification, surgical site marking, and case counting.
• Maintain aseptic technique, manage blood product handling, and anticipate surgeon needs during procedures.
• Respond to emergencies, provide BLS/ACLS interventions, and adjust care plans based on real‑time data.
• Ensure accurate documentation and communication with the care team to guarantee continuity of care.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a current Registered Nurse license.
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Demonstrated knowledge of nursing standards, JCAHO regulations, and the Nurse Practice Act.
• Ability to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in a surgical setting.
• Strong ethical practice, legal compliance, and flexibility in fast‑paced environments.
