Registered Nurse (Community) – Hutt Valley

About the role
This permanent 0.8 FTE position is for a Registered Nurse delivering community‑based care across the Hutt Valley. You will work four days a week, including Wednesdays and Fridays, with the possibility of one Saturday per month.
Key responsibilities
- Assess the growth and development of infants (tamariki) during home visits and clinic appointments.
- Provide holistic, culturally appropriate advice and support to whānau.
- Deliver social support to families facing economic or housing challenges.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in a 6‑week orientation program and ongoing preceptor support.
Required profile
- Registered Nurse qualification.
- Hold or be able to obtain an Annual Practicing Certificate.
- Successful Ministry of Justice check.
- Full, clean NZ driver’s licence.
- Resourceful, resilient and able to make independent decisions.
- Excellent active‑listening and communication skills.
- Willingness to work with diverse families, open to both new graduates and experienced nurses.
Required skills
- Clinical assessment of infants and young children.
- Home‑visit coordination and time management.
- Cultural competency in Māori and Pacific contexts.
