Project Engineer – Structural, Mechanical & Piping (2-year Fixed Term)

About the role

As a Project Engineer for the Waihi North Project, you will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of Structural, Mechanical and Piping (SMP) activities across the full project lifecycle. The role is a two-year fixed-term position focused on ensuring that all SMP works are executed safely, to specification, on schedule and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and oversee SMP activities from engineering through procurement, construction, installation and commissioning.
• Review designs, drawings, specifications and scopes of work to confirm constructability and technical compliance.
• Manage interfaces between structural, mechanical, piping, civil, electrical and operational teams.
• Monitor on-site construction and installation to ensure safety, quality and adherence to approved scope.
• Develop construction work packs, installation methodologies, lift studies, shutdown plans and tie-in strategies.
• Coordinate contractor and vendor activities, including access, sequencing and resolution of field issues.
• Participate in risk assessments, constructability reviews, HAZID/HAZOP actions and implementation of controls.
• Maintain detailed SMP schedules and execution plans, reporting progress, forecasts and emerging risks to the Project Manager.

• Experience ensuring works are delivered safely, to quality standards, on time and within budget.
• Capability to work with multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
