Project Director – Wireless & Critical Infrastructure

About the role

Ventia is seeking a senior Project Director to lead its national portfolio of wireless and critical infrastructure projects across New Zealand. Reporting to the General Manager ANZ Wireless & NZ Telecommunications, you will be responsible for delivery performance, commercial outcomes and sustainable growth across multiple clients and programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a national portfolio and a team of 90+ staff and subcontractors to deliver safe, reliable outcomes.
• Own commercial performance, including revenue, margin, cost control and growth initiatives.
• Build and maintain strong client and partner relationships, turning delivery success into future work.
• Drive a consistent pipeline of work through panel, quote‑do, bid and tender processes.
• Provide structure, commercial discipline and consistency at the portfolio level.

Required profile

• Senior operational and commercial leader with experience in telecommunications or critical infrastructure.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑client, multi‑programme portfolios at scale.
• Strong commercial acumen with a focus on financial performance.
• Strategic thinker who stays close to delivery to ensure performance.
