Procurement Services Manager
Transpower
Job description
About the role
Transpower, the state-owned enterprise that owns and operates New Zealand's national electricity transmission system, is seeking a Procurement Services Manager. Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you will lead the operational enablement of the centre-led Procurement function, ensuring systems, governance, processes, reporting, supplier information and capability initiatives work effectively and consistently. The role sits at the intersection of procurement, business operations, commercial governance, systems and change.
Key responsibilities
- Lead Procurement Services and ensure efficient, commercially robust, reliable and customer-focused operational delivery.
- Improve procurement systems, workflows, controls and digital tools.
- Embed procurement governance, policies, delegated authorities and assurance processes.
- Strengthen supplier, contract and performance information to support decision-making and risk management.
- Own end-to-end reporting, insights and performance measures that show Procurement's effectiveness and value.
- Lead capability development and adoption of procurement frameworks across the organisation.
- Partner with stakeholders across Transpower to improve procurement outcomes and user experience.
Required profile
- Experience leading procurement operations, procurement excellence, shared services or a similar business support function in a large, complex organisation.
- Proven people leadership: building teams, developing capability, setting direction and improving service delivery.
- Demonstrated success leading change, continuous improvement or transformation initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across operational, corporate and senior leadership groups.
- Ability to balance service delivery, governance, risk and commercial outcomes while managing priorities and resources.
- Existing eligibility to work in New Zealand.
Required skills
- Understanding of procurement governance, sourcing support, supplier and contract management, assurance and operational controls.
- Experience designing, improving and embedding business processes, service models, systems and ways of working.
- Digital and analytical capability, including procurement systems, workflow optimisation, reporting and technology-enabled service improvement.
Advantageous but not essential: procurement transformation experience, knowledge of supplier relationship management and contract governance, professional procurement accreditation such as CIPS, experience in infrastructure, utilities, engineering or energy, and familiarity with New Zealand's energy sector. Applications close 3 November 2026; existing eligibility to work in New Zealand is required.
