Procurement Business Partner

About the role

Napier City Council is seeking an experienced Procurement Business Partner to provide practical advice and support across the full procurement lifecycle. You will work closely with portfolio leads, project managers and other teams to ensure procurement activities are compliant, well‑managed and deliver value for money.

Key responsibilities

• Provide procurement advice from early planning through tendering to contract delivery.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to promote consistent procurement practices.
• Identify, assess and mitigate procurement and contract risks.
• Support continuous improvement of procurement processes, frameworks and governance.
• Collaborate with the Procurement Lead and Contracts Lead to achieve better commercial outcomes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement or commercial roles with end‑to‑end knowledge.
• Confidence delivering practical advice to diverse project teams.
• Strong understanding of procurement frameworks, governance and risk management.
• Experience with standard contract suites such as NZS3910 and tender documentation.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills and a collaborative approach.

What we offer

• Permanent, full‑time role (40 hours/week) based in Napier.
• Annual salary between $105,700 and $124,300 (including KiwiSaver).
