About the role
We are looking for a proactive People Business Partner to provide strategic and operational HR support for a 12‑month fixed‑term period. The role will help the council manage day‑to‑day HR demands and support local government reform programmes.
Key responsibilities
- Act as a trusted advisor to People Leaders and the wider organisation.
- Provide HR guidance, ensuring it is valued and acted upon by leaders.
- Coach and develop People Leaders to strengthen their leadership capability.
- Build and maintain sustainable, effective working relationships across the council.
- Support the delivery of local government reform initiatives, directly or indirectly.
- Adapt flexibly to shifting priorities and step in where support is most needed.
Required profile
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related discipline.
- Proven ability to work with business units to execute strategy.
- Strong strategic thinking and influencing skills at all organisational levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, able to simplify complex information.
- Calm, patient yet dynamic and agile approach to work.
- High level of discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality.
