People and Development Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced People and Development Manager to lead learning, capability and performance initiatives within a busy professional services environment. Based in Auckland CBD with one day per week of remote work, the role also requires monthly travel to Christchurch.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deliver learning and development programmes across the organisation.
• Partner with leaders to build capability, manage performance reviews and support development conversations.
• Provide HR advisory on policies, procedures and core people processes, including onboarding and off‑boarding.
• Support recruitment, engagement and wellbeing initiatives, including health & safety.
• Lead a direct report and contribute to HR reporting, payroll checks and people‑culture projects.
• Conduct training needs analysis, identify capability gaps and facilitate learning sessions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in learning & development and operational HR, preferably in a professional services or corporate setting.
• Strong learning design and facilitation capability.
• Experience supporting performance and development frameworks.
• Practical HR advisory experience across policies and procedures.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Proactive, collaborative and hands‑on approach with confidence working with senior leaders.
• Willingness to travel to Christchurch approximately once per month.
