Payroll Specialist

About the role

Silver Fern Farms is hiring a Payroll Specialist to join its Central Payroll Specialist team, which works from the Dunedin Hub on Princes Street. Reporting to the National Payroll Lead, the specialist manages salary pay runs and related payroll processes and supports waged payroll delivery for site and corporate employees. The role sits within a team focused on delivering payroll on time through compliant, accurate systems.

Key responsibilities

• Process accurate and timely salary pay runs and ad-hoc remuneration changes
• Provide day-to-day support to site-based Payroll co-ordinators and other system users
• Support system administration, upgrades and user access across PayGlobal and other tools
• Deliver audit, reporting and accounting tasks, including reconciliations and compliance returns
• Support payroll and HRIS development and improvement projects
• Act as first point of contact for payroll queries and provide excellent customer service

Required profile

• Proven experience in payroll processing and system administration; PayGlobal experience is an advantage
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance requirements, including the Holidays Act
• High attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality
• Excellent communication skills and a strong customer service focus

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Confidence using HRIS and payroll systems
• Understanding of accounting, reporting and reconciliations
