Payroll Compliance Consultant

About the role

Datacom is seeking two Payroll Compliance Consultants to join its Payroll Product team in Auckland. You will act as a trusted advisor, working closely with product, development and customer‑success teams to keep the payroll solution compliant with evolving legislation across New Zealand and Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, research and analyse payroll legislation, tax law, superannuation regulations and industrial instruments.
• Lead end‑to‑end legislative impact assessments and develop mitigation plans.
• Provide clear, actionable compliance guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
• Triag​e compliance requests, prioritize them against the product roadmap and prepare business cases for resourcing.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Analysts to translate regulatory requirements into functional specifications.
• Review UX designs and workflows to ensure they meet legislative requirements.
• Participate in sprint reviews and product demonstrations to validate compliance outcomes.
• Develop and maintain compliance documentation, including release notes and compliance matrices.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert on payroll compliance and contribute to industry consultations and regulatory submissions.

Required profile

• 4–6+ years of payroll compliance or operations experience, preferably within a software vendor, fintech or technology company.
• Proven ability to interpret and implement complex payroll legislation in New Zealand and/or Australia.
• Experience working with Agile development teams and methodologies.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills across technical and non‑technical audiences.
