Parks Supervisor

About the role

The Parks Supervisor leads the delivery of high‑quality maintenance across Hamilton’s park network. This hands‑on leadership position oversees contractors and crews, ensuring safe, well‑maintained public spaces that meet community needs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and support crews to deliver high‑quality park maintenance.
• Provide coaching, feedback and on‑the‑job guidance to build capability.
• Plan and prioritise work programmes to meet operational and seasonal requirements.
• Monitor team and contractor performance, ensuring standards, quality and efficiency.
• Manage resources, schedules and maintain accurate records.
• Respond to customer enquiries and build strong relationships with contractors and stakeholders.
• Conduct inspections, identify maintenance and asset issues, and promote health‑and‑safety compliance.
• Support continuous improvement, emergency response and community outcomes.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading and developing teams with a focus on people leadership.
• Confidence in providing coaching, feedback and managing performance.
• Practical experience in parks, landscaping or horticulture.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Experience working with contractors and overseeing service delivery.
• Clear communication skills and a customer‑focused approach.
• Good understanding of health, safety and wellbeing practices.
