Orthopaedic Surgeon

About the role

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is recruiting experienced Orthopaedic Surgeons for the Orthopaedic Service at Christchurch Hospital, a major tertiary referral centre serving Canterbury and the wider South Island. The service works with regional hospitals and other providers to deliver specialist orthopaedic care. Opportunities include permanent full-time or part-time positions, fixed-term appointments and other flexible arrangements, depending on service needs.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based orthopaedic care in a busy tertiary hospital setting.
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, registrars, nurses and allied health professionals.
• Contribute to clinical leadership, teaching, training and service development where possible.

Required profile

• Vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand in Orthopaedic Surgery, or eligibility for registration.
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Orthopaedic Surgery, or an equivalent recognised specialist qualification.
• Relevant specialist experience and clinical expertise in your area of orthopaedic practice.
• Commitment to evidence-based practice, patient-centred care and continuous quality improvement.
• Interest in supporting the development of colleagues, trainees and the wider clinical service.
