Registered Nurse - Specialist Mental Health Pool

About the role

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is recruiting Registered Nurses with a mental health background for its Specialist Mental Health Services permanent pool. Primarily based at Hillmorton Hospital in Christchurch, the role provides cover across inpatient services, including acute adult admitting units, high and complex needs services, intellectual disabilities, forensics, specialty services, Mothers and Babies, Eating Disorders, Alcohol and Drug services, and child and youth services. Full and part-time positions are available.

Required profile

• Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC and mental health scope.
• Previous mental health scope and experience is preferred; nurses without mental health experience but with mental health scope may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Ability to work autonomously and alongside multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Confident, resilient and able to build strong relationships with patients and their families/whanau, with an emphasis on re-engagement into the community.
• Knowledge of and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
