Nurse Practitioner – Advanced Primary Care (Hawke's Bay)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join a Cornerstone Accredited teaching practice serving over 6,000 patients, primarily Māori and Pasifika communities. The role focuses on delivering advanced primary healthcare, providing clinical leadership, and promoting health equity through a whānau‑centred approach.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct advanced patient assessments, diagnose, develop treatment plans and prescribe medication.
• Order and interpret diagnostic and laboratory tests, managing a complex caseload independently.
• Coordinate care across GPs, specialists, allied health and community providers to ensure continuity for patients with complex needs.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor nurses and students, and drive quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Build trusting relationships with whānau, apply culturally responsive care, and collaborate with health and social services.
• Maintain accurate records, comply with regulations and accreditation standards, and participate in audits and risk management.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse Practitioner (NZNC) with a current Annual Practising Certificate.
• Master's degree in Nursing (clinically focused) and prescribing authority.
• Minimum 5 years recent primary healthcare nursing experience, including management of complex patient populations.
• Strong understanding of primary care issues, health equity in Aotearoa New Zealand, and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
