Nurse Practitioner – Adult Mental Health Services

About the role
Join the Community, Mental Health & Wellbeing team to provide comprehensive, trauma‑informed care for adults experiencing acute mental health challenges across the North and North West regions. This permanent, full‑time position combines clinical leadership with operational responsibility for three community‑based services.
Key responsibilities
- Lead three acute community services delivering triage, assessment and brief interventions.
- Collaborate with emergency departments, emergency services, consumers, families and GPs to develop trauma‑informed treatment plans.
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and interpret diagnostic pathology or radiology.
- Initiate short‑ and medium‑term psychotherapies and prescribe psychotropic medications.
- Manage consumer care directly or through delegation, including admissions and discharges.
- Develop and communicate safety and management plans with multidisciplinary teams.
- Contribute clinical expertise to learning environments and post‑registration teaching.
Required profile
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with Nurse Practitioner endorsement (AHPR).
- Master Nurse Practitioner qualification with a mental health specialisation.
- Postgraduate qualifications in mental health or psychiatric nursing.
- Significant experience across the lifespan with mental health concerns.
- Strong communication, interpersonal skills and commitment to person‑centred recovery principles.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to team goals.
