Mental Health Support Worker – Auckland

About the role

Whare Tiaki Hauora Limited is seeking a dedicated professional to join its Auckland team and support the delivery of person‑centred mental health services. The role is full‑time, on‑site and involves direct client engagement, care coordination and close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Engage directly with clients to assess needs and contribute to individualized care plans.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records and ensure compliance with organisational policies.
• Participate in team meetings, case reviews and service‑improvement initiatives.
• Liaise with whānau, community providers and other stakeholders to coordinate care.
• Uphold cultural safety practices, recovery‑oriented and trauma‑informed approaches.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in mental health, social work, psychology, nursing or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven ability to build respectful, therapeutic relationships with clients, whānau and colleagues.
• Understanding of recovery‑oriented, trauma‑informed, culturally safe practice, including Te Ao Māori perspectives.
• Strong organisational and time‑management skills, with the capacity to manage a caseload and follow clinical procedures.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and independently, maintaining professional boundaries.
• Comfort with basic digital tools and electronic record systems; willingness to learn new systems.
• Current eligibility to work in New Zealand; professional registration and a clean driver’s licence may be advantageous.
