Medical Laboratory Technician – Core Laboratory (Part‑time)

About the role

Awanui Labs – Queenstown is looking for two motivated Medical Laboratory Technicians to join its Core Laboratory on a permanent part‑time basis. This role offers hands‑on experience in a high‑quality diagnostic pathology environment, supporting daily laboratory operations and contributing to patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, sort and process laboratory specimens.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures and collect specimens according to protocol.
• Enter patient and test information accurately into laboratory information systems.
• Answer telephone enquiries and provide professional client assistance.
• Participate in on‑call duties as required.
• Manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
• Maintain high standards of accuracy, safety and laboratory quality.

Required profile

• Methodical approach with strict adherence to quality procedures.
• Customer‑focused attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
• Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
• Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand is preferred but not mandatory; candidates in the process of qualification are considered.
