Medical Laboratory Technician – Core Laboratory (Full‑time)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Medical Laboratory Technician to join our Core Laboratory in Queenstown. This permanent, full‑time position offers the chance to develop practical laboratory skills while supporting essential diagnostic services for the community.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, sort and process laboratory specimens.
• Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection as required.
• Enter patient and test information accurately into laboratory systems.
• Answer telephone enquiries and provide professional client assistance.
• Participate in on‑call duties and manage competing priorities under pressure.
• Maintain high accuracy, problem‑solve and adapt to procedural changes.
• Work both independently and collaboratively within the team.

Required profile

• Methodical approach adhering to strict quality procedures.
• Customer‑focused with strong interpersonal skills.
• Sound knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory operations, including safety.
• Team player with initiative, able to thrive in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
• Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
• Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand preferred, but candidates in the process will be considered.
