About the role
Join Hato Hone St John’s Major Incident Support Team (MIST) as a volunteer helping ambulance crews during events, emergencies and disasters across New Zealand. You will provide essential non‑clinical support such as logistics, welfare, communications and vehicle operation.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain operational readiness of MIST vehicles and equipment.
- Safely relocate and operate support, command or specialist vehicles.
- Respond to major incidents and events, undertaking roles in logistics, welfare, communications, safety or team leadership.
- Assist with set‑up and breakdown at planned events such as music festivals.
Required profile
- Current, full, clean New Zealand Class 1 driver’s licence.
- Level 2 First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one during onboarding.
- Ability to attend at least one training session per month.
- Ready to deploy within 30 minutes of activation.
- Good physical fitness for heavy lifting of equipment.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Required skills
- Class 1 vehicle operation.
- First Aid (Level 2).
