Legal Counsel - Real Estate Finance

About the role

Our client, a leading specialist financier and investment manager in commercial real estate debt, is looking for a Legal Counsel to join its growing Auckland CBD office. The role is highly business‑facing and involves advising on the structuring and financing of real estate developments.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on the structuring and financing of real estate development projects.
• Draft, review, and manage the full suite of financial documentation for property loans and mortgages.
• Oversee settlement processes and ensure smooth funding and closing of transactions.
• Collaborate closely with internal departments and external stakeholders, including banks and counterparties' solicitors.
• Manage the complete transaction lifecycle from approval through to settlement and funding.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a real estate and property finance lawyer.
• Extensive knowledge of the New Zealand non‑bank lending sector.
• Strong passion for the real estate finance industry.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, business‑oriented environment.
