Lecturer / Senior Lecturer – Primary Health Care

About the role

The Department of Primary Health Care at the University of Otago Wellington seeks an experienced primary health‑care professional to join as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer. This part‑time, permanent position will contribute to undergraduate medical education and a range of interprofessional programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver and develop teaching for medical students (Years 4‑6) and other health‑professional programmes.
• Engage with community partners and iwi/Māori organisations to enrich learning experiences.
• Conduct primary‑health‑care research with translational components and publish quality papers.
• Participate in course administration and contribute to departmental initiatives.

Required profile

• Registered health professional with a clinical background relevant to primary health care.
• Relevant postgraduate research degree in health sciences or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in tertiary‑level teaching and course administration.
• Active independent research portfolio evidenced by peer‑reviewed publications.
• Commitment to collaborative working relationships and service to the university and community.
• Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and ability to teach in line with its principles.

• Permanent part‑time contract (0.4–0.6 FTE) with flexible start date and hours.
• Salary scale: $97,377–$114,943 (Lecturer) or $120,484–$137,444 (Senior Lecturer) per annum.
