Lead Advisor, Learning Design

About the role

The Learning Design team is seeking a Lead Advisor to shape teaching and learning resources across Aotearoa. This fixed‑term position (until 30 June 2028) focuses on integrating te ao Māori, te reo Māori and Mātauranga Māori into the New Zealand Curriculum and Te Whāriki.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of high‑quality educational resources and frameworks.
• Collaborate with curriculum design teams, senior leadership and external resource developers.
• Provide expert advice on curriculum changes, especially relating to Māori perspectives.
• Manage procurement processes and ensure compliance with government standards.
• Mentor and build capability across the organisation.

Required profile

• Deep expertise in te ao Māori, te reo Māori and Mātauranga Māori.
• Strong understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum and its evolution.
• Proven ability to lead research, change initiatives and quality assurance.
• Critical thinker who can translate evidence into actionable guidance.
