L3 Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Babcock's Marine Industrial Design (MID), a naval architecture and marine engineering consultancy, is hiring an L3 Design Engineer based in Nelson, New Zealand. The role applies marine engineering expertise to vessel design, modification and support projects across New Zealand's maritime sector, working within an engineering team to lead technical investigations, develop design solutions and influence project outcomes from concept to delivery.

The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, with a salary of $105,000 to $115,000.

Required profile

• Mechanical Engineering degree, HNC or equivalent engineering qualification
• Membership of a recognised engineering institution (e.g. MIMechE)
• Significant marine engineering or shipbuilding design experience
• Experience applying marine classification and statutory requirements
• Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand and ability to obtain NZDF security clearance
