Junior R&D Technologist

About the role

Kraft Heinz is hiring a Junior R&D Technologist for its New Zealand R&D team in Hastings. The role supports the development and improvement of new and existing products and processes, with a flexible hybrid arrangement of three days in the office and two days remote.

Key responsibilities

• Project feasibility, prototype development, new ingredient evaluation and approval, product costing and establishment of production methods
• Set up factory documentation and supervise factory trials and commercial production
• Develop technical product information including BOMs, production methods, label information, ingredient and product specifications and shelf-life evaluation
• Ensure recipes and documentation are entered correctly and on time into the data control system
• Provide progress and final reports, and technical guidance to Manufacturing, Procurement, QRMP and other quality programmes
• Support cost reduction and growth opportunities for business categories, and work with Marketing and other functions

Required profile

• Product development experience in the food industry with specialist technical skills and product and processing knowledge
• Understanding of interactions between ingredients, additives, recipes, processes and packaging types
• Experience with NPD stage and gate processes
• Understanding of the FSANZ Food Standards Code and food labelling requirements
• Good communication skills, problem-solving ability and attention to detail
