Injury Prevention Coordinator – Wellington

About the role
The Injury Prevention Coordinator will join Whānau Āwhina Plunket’s Community Services team in Wellington to deliver child safety and injury‑prevention programmes. Working directly with whānau, volunteers and community partners, you will coordinate initiatives, provide practical education and promote safety messages across the region.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and deliver injury‑prevention initiatives that support whānau and strengthen communities.
- Provide child‑restraint installation services and facilitate community education sessions.
- Promote child‑safety messages, especially to priority Māori and Pacific populations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, volunteers and clinical teams.
- Plan, monitor and report on programme activities while travelling throughout the Wellington region.
Required profile
- Passionate about supporting whānau and creating safer environments for children.
- Builds trusted relationships with diverse communities and stakeholders.
- Confident communicator, both written and verbal.
- Enjoys facilitating education and sharing knowledge.
- Adaptable, organised and able to manage competing priorities.
- Committed to pro‑equity practice and culturally responsive work.
- Collaborative team player with a genuine interest in child safety.
Required skills
- Strong relationship‑building and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Experience presenting information and facilitating group sessions.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining relationships.
- Planning, organisational and time‑management capabilities.
- Full New Zealand driver licence and willingness to travel.
- Child Restraint Technician qualification or willingness to obtain within three months of appointment.
