HR Business Partner – New Zealand

About the role

Join Cookes, a leading supplier of wire rope and lifting solutions in New Zealand, as an HR Business Partner. You will provide hands‑on operational HR leadership while also contributing to strategic workforce initiatives that support the company’s growth and safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver day‑to‑day HR generalist advice to managers and employees.
• Act as the first point of contact for employee and manager queries, ensuring consistent and compliant responses.
• Manage end‑to‑end employee and industrial relations, including case management and union communications.
• Oversee the full recruitment cycle, from workforce planning to onboarding.
• Coordinate payroll processing with the outsourced provider and Finance, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Support strategic activities such as workforce planning, leadership capability development, employee engagement, and safety culture alignment with BBRG HR priorities.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an HR generalist or HR manager in an operational environment.
• Strong knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation and industrial relations.
• Demonstrated ability to handle employee relations cases and work with unions.
• Experience managing recruitment processes and onboarding.
• Familiarity with payroll oversight and coordination with external providers.
