Group Finance Manager (Fixed-Term, 18 months)

About the role

The Group Finance Manager will lead the finance function for a key business unit within the Bioeconomy Science Institute during an 18‑month fixed‑term period. Reporting to the General Manager Finance, the role ensures robust financial stewardship, strong controls and high‑quality reporting while supporting organisational transformation and integration.

Key responsibilities

• Lead financial operations including accounting, treasury, accounts payable and receivable, compliance and audit readiness.
• Maintain the integrity of financial systems and data across the organisation.
• Partner with the Group Financial Planning & Analysis Manager to translate financial information into actionable insights for planning and performance management.
• Drive continuous improvement of financial processes and support the transition to integrated, harmonised systems.
• Develop finance capability, foster a high‑performing team culture and build strong cross‑functional partnerships.

Required profile

• Recognised accounting qualification and professional membership (CA ANZ or equivalent).
• Significant experience leading finance functions in complex organisations.
• Deep understanding of financial control, statutory reporting, governance, compliance and audit requirements.
• Proven ability to interpret financial data, manage risk and communicate insights to both finance and non‑finance audiences.
• Collaborative, people‑focused leader who builds capability and drives shared outcomes.

Required skills
