GP Clinical Lead – Whakatane

About the role
We are seeking a dedicated GP Clinical Lead to head a passionate team of health providers serving a semi‑rural community of 4,500 patients in Whakatane. The role combines clinical excellence with leadership of a diverse, high‑needs population, including 52% Māori and many patients with multiple co‑morbidities.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team including nurse prescribers, an ear‑clinic nurse, an extended‑care paramedic, virtual GPs and a health‑improvement counsellor.
- Oversee chronic disease clinics, acute walk‑in services and virtual consultations.
- Coordinate referrals to diabetes, renal, respiratory and ENT specialists.
- Manage risk, ensure quality of care and maintain accurate patient records.
- Contribute to community health initiatives and support the practice’s 40‑year legacy.
Required profile
- Vocational Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
- Legal eligibility to work in New Zealand.
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage a high‑needs caseload.
- Leadership experience in primary‑care settings.

- Competitive annual salary $320,000‑$370,000 NZD.
