Full Stack Software Engineer (C#/.NET, React)

About the role

Smartly, a Datacom company, is looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to join the team behind its SaaS payroll platform used by over 20,000 New Zealand businesses. You will work on both front‑end and back‑end features, helping to deliver reliable, secure and performant payroll services.

Key responsibilities

• Own day‑to‑day delivery of assigned features, from clarification through production verification.
• Collaborate with the product team to estimate effort, raise risks early and keep progress transparent.
• Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to code reviews, unit tests and automated testing.
• Apply modern tooling, automation and AI‑assisted development to improve efficiency.
• Mentor junior engineers through constructive feedback and shared best practices.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of experience delivering software across multiple SDLC phases.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and a focus on code quality, security and performance.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Required skills

• C# and .NET development (minimum 2 years).
• Front‑end technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript and React (or ASP.NET Razor).
• Version control with Git.
• Understanding of SOLID principles, OOP and software architecture.
• Familiarity with service‑oriented frameworks.
• Exposure to public cloud platforms, preferably Azure (bonus).
