Financial Controller

About the role

The Trust is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to protect and grow its assets for current and future generations. Reporting to the Group CFO, you will provide strategic financial oversight across a diverse group of entities, including trusts, investments, and commercial operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the integrity, performance, and strategic oversight of the finance function across multiple entities.
• Ensure effective management of financial resources and mitigation of financial risks.
• Provide timely, accurate financial insights to senior leadership for decision‑making.
• Oversee governance reporting, audit coordination, and internal control frameworks.
• Collaborate closely with the CFO and leadership team to safeguard and enhance the Trust’s asset base.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant qualification (CAANZ, CPA or equivalent).
• 7–12+ years in senior financial leadership roles.
• Strong technical accounting expertise with IFRS knowledge.
• Experience in complex, multi‑entity reporting and consolidations.
• Proven capability in audit, risk management, and internal controls.
• Advanced financial systems and analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly.
• Experience in trusts, investment entities, Māori organisations, or complex group structures is highly regarded.
