Finance Business Partner

About the role

We are looking for a commercially‑minded Finance Business Partner to join a large, complex organisation in Wellington. Reporting to a Senior Finance Business Partner, you will act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing high‑quality financial analysis, planning and commercial insight to support strategic and operational decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with senior leaders and budget holders.
• Provide strategic financial advice, decision support and commercial insight.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and long‑term planning processes.
• Deliver insightful management reporting and performance analysis.
• Support business case development and investment proposal evaluation.
• Oversee financial analysis of CAPEX and OPEX expenditure.
• Partner with stakeholders responsible for infrastructure, property and asset portfolios.
• Identify financial risks, opportunities and improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to organisational planning and investment decision‑making.

Required profile

• CA ANZ qualification (or equivalent) or comparable finance credential.
• Proven finance business partnering experience in a large, complex organisation.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling capability.
• Experience managing and analysing both capital and operational expenditure.
• Background in business case development and investment analysis.
• Exposure to infrastructure, property, asset management or capital project environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Public sector or government experience is highly regarded.
