Field Capability Coach

About the role

The Field Capability Coach works directly with our field crews to raise capability, reinforce safe work practices and improve overall performance. You will spend most of your time on‑site, coaching, mentoring and assessing team members while supporting the rollout of the Common Competency Framework.

Key responsibilities

• Champion and model safe work behaviours in the field.
• Coach and mentor crews on‑the‑job to build confidence and lift performance.
• Support the implementation and embedding of the Common Competency Framework through practical coaching and assessment.
• Provide clear, constructive feedback to individuals and teams.
• Partner with leaders to identify development needs and strengthen workforce capability.
• Collaborate with technical experts to develop competency standards.

Required profile

• Strong commitment to safety and ability to role‑model safe behaviours.
• Relevant trade qualification (e.g., Line Mechanic, Cable Jointer, Electrician) with at least 3 years post‑qualification experience in electricity distribution.
• Leadership or supervisory exposure is an advantage.
• Excellent communication, trust‑building and approachability.
• Passion for developing others and delivering on‑the‑job coaching.
• Assessor Unit Standard 4098 or equivalent adult‑education qualification (support provided if needed).
