Facilities Technician

About the role

Danone is seeking a Facilities Technician to join the Balclutha site. This hands‑on position ensures that all site utilities, services and infrastructure are maintained to support safe and efficient manufacturing operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and operate site utilities and services to support production.
• Perform preventative and reactive maintenance across facilities and infrastructure.
• Support pest control, grounds maintenance and overall site cleanliness.
• Manage waste and recycling processes, including handling and coordination.
• Operate equipment such as forklifts and telehandlers where licensed.
• Complete work orders and respond to maintenance notifications.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and operational activities.
• Participate in internal and external audits.
• Liaise with contractors, service providers and internal teams.
• Support compliance with safety, quality, environmental and sustainability standards.

Required profile

• Experience in facilities, maintenance or manufacturing environments (3+ years preferred).
• Ability to work with technical, production and support stakeholders.
• Proactive, adaptable and detail‑oriented with strong communication and judgement.
• Solutions‑focused mindset and ability to manage changing priorities.

Required skills

• Forklift operation (licence preferred, training provided).
• Telehandler operation (where licensed).
• Full Class 1 driver’s licence.
• Chemical handling experience (preferred).
• Strong understanding of health & safety and environmental compliance.
