Event and Conference Planner

About the role
The University of Auckland is seeking an experienced Event and Conference Planner to manage a diverse portfolio of high‑quality events across the central City Campus. You will coordinate public lectures, seminars, webinars, stakeholder dinners, cultural ceremonies and large‑scale functions, ensuring each event aligns with its purpose and university standards.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, organise and deliver events from concept through to post‑event evaluation.
- Develop timelines, budgets and logistical plans for events ranging from 20 to over 1,000 attendees.
- Collaborate with academic and administrative stakeholders to provide expert advice and maintain event momentum.
- Manage risk by applying New Zealand health and safety legislation and best‑practice risk assessments.
- Maintain accurate financial records, track expenditures and ensure cost‑effective solutions.
Required profile
- Proven experience delivering both in‑person and virtual events within a large, complex organisation.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities under pressure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, confident stakeholder engagement.
- Understanding of tikanga and kawa in event contexts is an advantage.
- Relevant tertiary qualification preferred.

What we offer
- Permanent full‑time position (37.5 hours per week)
- Salary range NZ$63,000–NZ$79,000, negotiable based on experience
