Event and Conference Planner (Fixed‑Term)

About the role
The University of Auckland is seeking experienced Event and Conference Planners on a fixed‑term basis to deliver a diverse portfolio of high‑quality events on the City Campus. You will work closely with academic leaders, staff and students, managing both in‑person and virtual events that support the university’s vibrant community.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and execute a wide range of events including public lectures, seminars, webinars, stakeholder dinners, cocktail functions, pōwhiri and large‑scale conferences.
- Develop event concepts, timelines, budgets and logistical plans, ensuring safety, risk mitigation and cost‑effectiveness.
- Provide expert advice and support to internal and external stakeholders throughout the event lifecycle.
- Collaborate with the Event Services team and report to the Event and Operations Manager.
Required profile
- Proven experience in end‑to‑end coordination of events ranging from 20 to over 1,000 attendees.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Highly organised, proactive and able to juggle multiple priorities.
- Understanding of tikanga and kawa in event contexts is an advantage.
Required skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- High level of digital confidence with the Microsoft Office Suite.
What we offer
- Fixed‑term, full‑time contract (37.5 hours/week) for 12 months.
- Salary range NZ$63,000–NZ$79,000 per annum, negotiable based on experience.
