Employee Relations Partner – People Specialist

About the role

Join Air New Zealand’s newly created ER & Advisory team as an Employee Relations Partner (People Specialist). You will work closely with leaders and union partners to navigate complex people matters, balancing commercial outcomes, employee experience and risk through practical, people‑centred advice.

Key responsibilities

• Provide timely, practical and consistent partnership on a broad range of employee relations matters, including potential misconduct and serious misconduct incidents.
• Partner with leaders and unions to help them make informed decisions while managing risk and delivering outcomes.
• Coach people leaders and deliver workshops to uplift ER capability across work areas.
• Support leaders, unions and people partners with new ways of working under the People model.
• Contribute to improving and embedding ER processes, systems, tools and ways of working to enhance the experience for leaders, employees and the wider People team.

Required profile

• Strong employee relations capability with experience handling a range of ER matters and applying sound judgement in complex situations.
• Three or more years’ experience in a generalist HR or advisory role, or equivalent experience.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, able to provide clear, practical advice to diverse stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to balance competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• A collaborative, coaching mindset and a passion for continuously improving HR support, including an interest in AI.
