Emergency Medicine Registrar (non‑training)

About the role

Timaru Hospital is looking for two motivated Emergency Medicine Registrars to join its busy Emergency Department. Working alongside senior consultants, you will manage a wide range of acute presentations, from undifferentiated patients to trauma and complex medical emergencies, while receiving direct mentorship and teaching.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality clinical care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
• Collaborate with consultants, RMOs, nursing staff and multidisciplinary teams.
• Assume increasing clinical responsibility commensurate with experience.
• Participate in weekly teaching sessions and ongoing education programmes.
• Engage in clinical meetings, case discussions and service‑improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to a supportive team culture focused on patient safety and excellence.

• Strong, broad‑based clinical skills with sound clinical judgement.
• Excellent interpersonal and patient‑care communication.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Enthusiasm, adaptability and willingness to take on responsibility.
