Early Intervention Teacher

About the role

The Early Intervention Teacher joins the Learning Support team to guide children through critical transition points, from early childhood into school. You will deliver high‑quality support aligned with Te Whāriki and Te Whāriki a te Kohanga Reo curricula.

Key responsibilities

• Support transitions into early childhood settings and primary school as needed.
• Provide learning support consistent with the guiding principles, strands, and goals of Te Whāriki.
• Strengthen the capability of families and educators to support children’s learning.
• Assess, plan, implement, and monitor individual or group intervention plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood) or equivalent qualification.
• Post‑graduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching: Early Intervention (or ability to obtain within four years).
• Minimum three years’ experience with deep knowledge of child development, learning and behaviour.
• Understanding of diverse needs and disabilities in early childhood and family contexts.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with children, families, and educators.
• Commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, tangata whenua, and willingness to engage with Te Ao Māori.
