Early Childhood Kaiako (Teacher)

About the role
This is a full‑time, fixed‑term position (July – December 2026) based in Wellington. You will work as an Early Childhood Kaiako, delivering an individualised programme for learners aged two to six years, using the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Whāriki. The role blends online and face‑to‑face interaction to support each child's learning and wellbeing.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement personalised learning plans for each ākonga.
- Collaborate with parents, whānau and supervisors to ensure holistic support.
- Provide pastoral care and foster a sense of belonging through regular huinga ako sessions.
- Utilise digital communication tools to connect with learners and share progress.
- Participate in team meetings, uphold the organisation’s values and contribute to continuous improvement.
Required profile
- New Zealand teacher registration with a current practising certificate.
- Strong knowledge of Te Whāriki and early childhood best practices.
- Excellent communication, self‑motivation and problem‑solving abilities.
- Inclusive, calm approach to teaching and pastoral care.
- Interest in learning and using Te Reo Māori is highly desirable.
Required skills
- Digital literacy – comfortable using online communication platforms and learning management tools.
- Ability to develop and adapt individual learning programmes.
- Understanding of New Zealand early childhood curriculum and assessment.
