About the role
The University of Canterbury is seeking a strategic, data‑driven Digital Lead to shape and execute multi‑channel digital marketing campaigns that attract future students locally and internationally. You will combine high‑level strategy with hands‑on delivery, turning insights into impactful digital experiences.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, launch and optimise multi‑channel digital campaigns across Google Ads, SEO, social media, retargeting and e‑mail.
- Lead data‑led decision‑making through analytics, reporting and customer insights.
- Manage agency and contractor relationships for major initiatives.
- Create personalised customer journeys to improve engagement and conversion.
- Collaborate with faculties and internal teams to ensure consistent, compelling messaging.
- Identify emerging digital trends, tools and technologies to keep the university ahead of the curve.
Required profile
- Minimum 7 years of experience in digital marketing with a strong analytical focus.
- Proven ability to manage large Google Ads budgets and deliver measurable results.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Collaborative mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
Required skills
- Expert‑level Google Ads campaign management.
- Strong SEO knowledge and experience with SEMrush.
- Proficiency in analytics, customer journey mapping and campaign optimisation.
- Experience with CRM, CMS, Google Marketing Platform and Tag Manager.
- Familiarity with marketing automation tools.
- Basic HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
