Data & Communications Technician

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Data & Communications Technician to deliver structured cabling, Wi‑Fi, and fibre solutions for a variety of projects and service work. You will work independently, take ownership of tasks, and ensure safe, efficient, and compliant delivery on site.

Key responsibilities

• Install structured cabling systems according to plans and standards.
• Perform Wi‑Fi installations and configure network equipment.
• Splice and test fibre optic cables.
• Provide service, maintenance, and fault finding for communication systems.
• Support projects from start to finish and keep jobs on track with Project Managers.
• Mentor trainees and contribute to team productivity.

Required profile

• Proven experience installing structured cabling.
• Ability to test, commission, and perform basic fault finding.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation.
• High standard of workmanship and pride in site presentation.
• Willingness to support trainees and work collaboratively.
• NZ Certificate in Data Cabling (Level 3) or equivalent practical experience.
• Current Site Safe Passport (or ability to obtain).
• Full NZ Class 1 driver licence.
• Flexibility with working hours when required.
