Critical Care Paramedic – Aeromedical Rescue

About the role

Join a high‑performing aeromedical team delivering critical care and rescue services across the Central and Lower North Island of New Zealand. You will operate 24/7 from bases in Gisborne, New Plymouth or Hastings, providing lifesaving medical care in challenging environments.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive clinical assessment and emergency treatment of patients during air‑medical missions.
• Collaborate closely with pilots, crew and other healthcare professionals while adhering to all aviation safety protocols.
• Execute water‑winch operations, including winching patients from water and onto vessels.
• Maintain physical fitness and swimming proficiency to meet operational demands.
• Complete required police checks and uphold professional, culturally safe practice.

Required profile

• Currently practising as an Intensive Care or Critical Care Paramedic.
• Postgraduate Diploma in Critical Care (or equivalent).
• Current registration with the Kaunihera Manapou Paramedic Council and a valid Annual Practising Certificate.
• Strong swimming ability; surf‑lifesaving experience is advantageous.
• Legal right to work in New Zealand and ability to pass a police check.
