Consultant Psychiatrist – Flexible Full/Part‑Time Roles

About the role

The Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Disability Service (MHAIDS) is seeking experienced Consultant Psychiatrists to join multidisciplinary mental‑health teams across the Wellington region. Positions are available on a flexible full‑time, part‑time or casual basis, allowing you to tailor your workload to your professional and personal goals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment for adult, child and adolescent, inpatient, crisis, forensic and community clients.
• Deliver evidence‑based interventions, medication management and therapeutic education.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Participate in on‑call rotations, crisis response and after‑hours coverage as required.
• Contribute to clinical governance, audit activities and continuous quality improvement.

Required profile

• Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) or equivalent.
• Eligibility for specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
• Relevant postgraduate training and clinical experience in psychiatry.
• Current driver’s licence for travel between service sites.
